Although the sea is often wild and dramatic I'm drawn to explore the details, unexpected patterns, colours in the rocks and especially the myriad interactions where sea meets land. I'm fascinated by the complexity of movement and through the process of painting I love figuring out how these movements relate and respond to each other. It's an enjoyable challenge to spend hours on the foreshore to capture specific moments in a constantly changing environment, the unpredictability means revisiting the same locations continues to provide new perspectives and fresh inspiration.
